From the Annals of the Vaporous Realms
A dust-folk clan roaming the wastes investigated a stand of palm trees and discovered a watering hole of exceptional depth. The frond-laden tree branches resembled to their eyes the hands of the Wright himself, lord of the heaven-realm, bestowing his blessing on the weary wanderers. They settled this oasis, and others nearby, and called themselves the Children of the Palm.
Codex: Children of the Palm
The Children of the Palm were one of the thirteen clans that followed Len Ghremson out of the wandering wastes early in the first epoch. They resided initially in the western quarter of Danoh-town. Their descendants became knoll-folk, living in tents and herding beasts in the hill country west of the city.
Author Note
I don’t want to keep my compatriots from their kinfolk, pumpkin pie, or football this week, but I’ve got a few things worth mentions:
I spiffed Zshurii’s serialized story a bit and reposted it as a novella. Thanks to my Word Menders critique group from 2023! Someday, this’ll grow into a longer book series.
I made a Vaporous Realms at War tabletop profile for Zshurii.
Michael John Petty here on Substack interviewed John Rhys-Davies, of Gimli fame, who’s narrating A Christmas Carol. So cool, y’all.
The Brothers Krynn are sponsoring a fantasy fiction contest and anthology over on the Alliance Authors newsletter. There’ll be a cash prize for each of the five winners. I’ll be editing the stories for the anthology!
I’m looking forward to one last convention for the season, but I’ll be going on hiatus from most events in the new year. Time to focus on writing more novellas before I get back out here. In the meantime, I’ll update y’all as I open or refresh Vaporous Realms Publishing’s online shops. This year’s events have left me with a substantial inventory of books and collectibles in need of good homes.
Safe travels and happy reading. I’m thankful for each of you!
