From the Annals of the Vaporous Realms
A raft of creeper-folk wanderers, weary of evading the folk of the valley and the forests, took a river west from the Fangs. The river set them adrift in the Sea of Livyat, where they floated for days, out of reach of land. These hapless creeper-kin came at last to a rocky, brush-covered island. Half-naked, and wasted away to skin and bones, they rejoiced to discover forage plentiful upon the isle. Alas, the foolish youth guarding their raft felt a chill and decided the vessel would make fine kindling. The island lacked trees of sufficient number and size to construct a worthy replacement for the raft. Thus stranded, and enamored of the miniature equines they encountered on the isle, the creeper-folk settled there.
Codex: Sea of Livyat
The Sea of Livyat was the common name for the ocean that divided the Elder and Fledgling Worlds. Maritime folk, chiefly the Waveborne, distinguished also betwixt its northerly and southerly regions—the Nordling and Southron Seas, respectively. Certain devout folk called its central expanse the Redeemed Sea. Along the Elder Coast, many shore-folk kept the ancestral name of Mother Sea for the whole of the ocean.
Author Note
I’ve been under the weather (which, incidentally, is a picturesque blanket of snow), so I won’t belabor these notes.
I posted Cranc’s Vaporous Realms at War profile late last week. Incidentally, I’m divided on whether to hyphenate landhugger or not.
GMaia has kindly offered everyone a short fantasy comic he helped create a while back. The style brings back memories of the old Prince Valiant comic strip. I liked the quality of the preview, and as soon as the fog in my head clears, I’ll finish the entire thing.
Stay warm and healthy, and enjoy your week. Happy reading!
