Two servants, one man and one woman, both with the mark tattooed on their neck, showed Len upstairs to the king’s chamber. He could tell the manservant wanted to relieve him of his pack, but Len glared him down quick. The maidservant slipped betwixt woven curtains at the chamber entrance and after a polite clearing of her throat, announced Len’s arrival to those within. When she reemerged with a nod his way, he pushed aside the curtains and walked in.
