If Len had allowed himself another think, he might’ve called himself foolhardy for tossing caution aside. For a longish moment, he could see himself from above as if he were a bird, weightless and aloft on a breath of wind. His self below looked all kinds of witless, ignoring his certain knowledge that other folk meant nothing but trouble for him—and he for them.
