Kel, sometimes called Lord Kel, was one of the preeminent Scions of the Wright. Severe in countenance, he was bold, self-assured, and charismatic. His brothers and sisters knew him for his intellect, clever words, and boundless ambition. Kel distinguished himself as a captain of the Scions in the battle to subdue Livyat. Afterward, he served as Egwae’s counterpart in guarding the bridge to the heaven-realm, though he abandoned this post around the time of Ghrem and Lae’s exile. He met Len the Wanderer on at least one occasion. Late in the first epoch, Kel founded a group of Scions dedicated to taking a more active role in the affairs of earthly folk.
From the Chronicles of the Vaporous Realms (first epoch)
Livyat’s silvery tentacle withdrew into the mist, but her chaos minions swarmed Egwae’s cloud-skiff with a vengeance. “Dive!” she shouted again at her helmsman. “Faster!” The vessel dove madly after their seven kin, whom the wind tossed violently as they fell toward the darkling depths.
From above and to port, another skiff burst forth to engage the winged serpents. Its captain stood in the bow, sharp visage shining in the stormy murk. Kel! The Wright’s champion wielded his lightning flail to deadly effect: every minion it struck exploded in a shower of sparks.
Egwae’s pilot maneuvered them under the nearest of the plummeting Scions. She extinguished her fiery blade and, with her bosun, grappled their hapless brother in passing. Together they tackled him to the deck. One.
