Valley-Folk
A people-group from the Dustsong Cycle
The valley-folk were the original, pale-skinned inhabitants of the hills and hollows betwixt the snowcapped peaks of the Upper Fangs (to the north and west) and the humble, dusty Lower Fangs (to the south). They hunted, gathered, and herded beasts early in the first epoch.
The rise of Len the Wanderer, and the westward migration of several desert-folk clans, displaced most valley-folk. The Children of Dust assimilated those who lingered in the eastern portions of the valley. Most fled to the western highlands or vanished into the lands beyond the Fangs, where they may have become forest-folk.
By the end of the first epoch, valley-folk was a colloquial term for the descendants of the Children of Dust who had settled in the shade of the Fangs, sometimes excluding the inhabitants of the western uplands and mountain lake.
