Bringing the souls of the Vaporous Realms to life on the tabletop
This page is an intro and (at the bottom) an index of Vaporous Realms character profiles for use in tabletop roleplaying (RP) and miniature wargaming. I’ll post one or two new profiles weekly.
I know this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, not to fret. But for the tabletop enthusiasts out there, each profile will offer character details and stats intended for any of these rule systems:
a certain popular strategy battle game (and variants thereof) based on Tolkien’s story-world
the (ahem) fifth edition of an immensely popular RPG, borrowing a few helpful features from the current RPG based on Tolkien’s world
the Vaporous Realms at War house rules for miniature wargaming, which rely on the same stats as the aforementioned strategy battle game but involve a much simpler, quicker combat system
Thanks for bearing with my circumspect language as I steer well clear of potential copyright and trademark issues. Rule systems aren’t copyrighted, but many related terms and phrases are.
The actual rules for the Vaporous Realms at War, including all three systems I mentioned above, will appear in an initial, quick-guide format as part of our inaugural, “Watchers”-themed Kickstarter (September–October 2024). Our second Kickstarter, focused on the revised and expanded edition of Len’s story will feature a full-fledged core rulebook with a Dustsong-themed starter campaign.
The Kickstarter campaigns will also provide opportunities for you to pick up unique character miniatures and to get virtual or physical profile cards, regardless of whether you’re a subscriber here.
